The current Caregiver Program is scheduled to end in November 2019. Migrant Care Workers have forced the federal government to announce a replacement. But thousands of racialized migrant women from around the world who come to Canada to take care of children, people with disabilities, sick and the elderly may still be shut out from rights. We came to Canada because we were promised the ability to stay and bring our families after difficult and low-paid work. Keeping this promise to us is essential to building integrity within the Canadian immigration system. We need to make sure that new laws ensure decent work and stability for everyone.
